about the photographer

Scott Lewis

Scott Lewis holds a Master of Arts in Movement-Based Expressive Arts from Lesley University, where he studied the psychology of the expressing body with a blend of somatic, movement, and contemplative practices including Miksang Photography, Continuum, and the 5Rhythms® movement meditation practice.

He is also a graduate of the Tamalpa Institute, where he studied movement-based expressive arts with Anna and Daria Halprin.  Scott’s undergraduate work includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Arizona State University, where he majored in theater, movement, and dance.  After a career in professional theater, where he directed and acted for more than 10 years, he returned to the visual arts and has spent the last 19 years as an advertising and corporate photographer.

Scott’s expansion of his business into the expressive arts therapy field was inspired by therapeutic results discovered under his creative direction during one of his photography sessions.  He believes that applying expressive arts in a deeply personal way has therapeutic value, and the power to transform and heal.  Scott continues to work as a freelance corporate photographer, nationally and is beginning his private practice as an expressive artist, therapist, and life/art coach.  He recently moved to Bellingham and serves clients in Seattle as well.
